Sreemoyee (born 07th July 1986) is an Indian film director, and producer [1] She is one of the among the most acclaimed and influential female filmmakers in Bengal as of the 21st century.
Having made her directorial debut with Shadows (2013), Sreemoyee gained considerable attention for her second short, Veil (2000), Born in April 1986 in Kolkata, Sreemoyee Bhattacharya showed artistic inclination at a tender age. With a desire to tell stories and step into world cinema, she completed a Director’s diploma (April 2012-March 2013) from Raindance Film School, London. Shadows, her first short film was showcased at the SFC, Cannes and got accolades. The film was later shown in San Jose International Short Film Festival and Bangalore International Short Film Festival. The film won the Critic choice Best Film and Best Director award in Cinemela. The success story was published in many leading newspapers including Anandabazar Patrika and Times of India.
Veil - her second short film was again screened in SFC, Cannes and was selected in Raindance Film Festival, received the Best Screenplay Award in Bangalore Miniboxoffice International Short Film Festival, screened in Kerala film festival. It got awarded at Bangalore International Short Film Festival and got specially screened in Chicago South Asian Film Festival too. It got the HBO Best Short Film Award, Audience Choice in New York South Asian Film Festival. The film got a certificate of excellence from Dada Saheb Phalke film festival as well. Sreemoyee got the Best Emerging Woman Filmmaker award in Kolkata International Short Film Festival and a special Jury mention award in Indian Cine Film Festival.
Sreemoyee released her third short film All Characters Are Fictitious that has been critically acclaimed. The film has been shown in BSFF, where it got the Special Jury Award. It also got specially screened in International Short Film Carnival, Goa and KSFF, 2016 and Cinemela, 2016.
In January 2017, Sreemoyee started her production space named Transmic Space in collaboration with Abhik Chatterjee. They have produced ten independent video contents of vivid genres.
She directed four Music Videos for Drishyam Play, an initiative by Drishyam Films to promote Independent Music.
She recently finished shooting her Debut Feature Film, 'One Secret Red'. She is also one of the co-producers of the film. The film is in post production right now.
